Instructions on Papers
TPDL presentation sessions are allocated to 1h30 or 1h slots, corresponding to 2 or 3 papers.
Authors should prepare their talks so that they do not exceed 20 minutes (for full papers) and 15 minutes (for short papers).
This will allow plenty of time for discussion.
Best paper
Based on the scientific evaluation, the conference chairs will nominate a “Best Paper”, to be announced at the Conference dinner on Tuesday. Springer sponsors the 1,000€ prize for the winners.
Instructions on Posters & Demos
The poster and demo session will take place on Monday, September 10 at 18:00.
The first part is a “Minute Madness” presentation in the main conference room, with each presenter making a 1 minute pitch of their poster. The session continues, together with the TPDL/DCMI reception, in the conference lobby and coffee lounge.
Poster Format
Posters will be displayed on panels that accommodate a maximum poster size *A0 portrait*, i.e. 841 mm (width) x 1189 mm (height).
Mounting posters
You can mount the poster during the day. Fastening material is provided. Posters should be ready before the minute madness at 18:00. Posters are expected to stay on the corridor boards for the duration of the conference.
Demos
If you want to present your work also as a demo, please send a note to
A table and a 220 V power outlet will be provided.
Minute Madness
At the beginning of the poster and demo session, there will be a “minute madness” where each presenter of a poster or a demo will be given 1 minute to present their poster/demo and raise audience interest on it. The minute madness will be located in the main conference room and begins at 18:00.
The slides must be prepared ahead and submitted to the TPDL 2018 poster session chairs:

Slides must be in PDF format and maximum 2 slides are allowed (a title page slide and a content slide). Please use the same title you used when you submitted your short paper/demo.
Best poster
During the poster session, a ballot will be available to each participant to vote on their favourite poster. Based on the scientific evaluation and the vote result, the poster chairs will nominate a “Best Poster”, to be announced at the Conference dinner on Tuesday.
Printing your posters in Porto
In case you do not want to carry your printed poster, you can print it at FEUP campus.
Note that this is not a conference service.
Please contact Daniela at editorial@aefeup.pt directly. The cost is 20€ and a receipt is available upon request. Posters take 15 minutes to print.
So you can:
- Send a PDF previously to editorial@aefeup.pt, with the subject “TPDL2018 poster”, and have the poster ready on arrival.
- Got to their office anytime on Monday (but you may have to queue).
